Meet: Rachel Stein
Welcome to my digital home and thanks for stopping by. Here I am in my late 60s, single, and calling myself the live-in mom. What’s the difference between a live-in mom and a stay-at-home mom? The age of the children. My daughter is in college and lives at home, and I live with her.
Life, along with my decisions and my capitulations, has had its way of putting me in oddly placed comedies and tragedies. A teenage mom with a middle aged peer group who had daughters the same age as me . The late in life mom with grandchildren the same age as my own daughter.
Most times it’s like being the fly on the wall of my own life, giving me an unusual perspective of my life and life in general. A unique perspective that can be often entertaining, if not thought provoking and encouraging.
Here is where I intend to share that perspective and encouragement and the universal life hacks I’ve picked up along the way.
The dominant theme on this digital meeting place is love. Thinking of love as more than the energy that unites us, and seeing love and oneness as being synonymous. We are all in this together. I’m inspired to share my challenges no matter how personal, to show how I’ve despaired and developed strength. The idea being; if I can do it, you can do it. And since we are all in this together, to also share the joys and successes because life travelled together is so much sweeter.
I have witnessed and known many worlds and ways of life. Starting out modestly, as a Midwest farmer’s daughter and marrying young and traveling the world as an Army wife, via far-flung U.S. military assignments. In my middle age I embraced the cloistered lifestyle of ultra-Orthodox Jewish culture. Now, here I am reflecting, creating, and sharing this world of mine.
I have experienced challenges, heartaches, and traumas. Many I will share with you for the purpose to encourage any of you who are having the same or similar experiences and show how through it all, we can find meaning and beauty in our lives. The intention here is to connect with and support one another as we segue through this life’s journey.
This site is named Books and Such, because segue is my first book and my words here are the such. You can expect a lot more of ‘such and such’ topics. You can also expect me to strive at keeping it raw and real, as well as vulnerable and loving. And yes, always personal.
Here’s to beautiful segues.
With love,
Rachel Stein
